Uncut Gems (2019)

Howard Ratner is a once successful New York gems dealer whose gambling addiction has left his family and career in shambles, and him hundreds of thousands in debt. Always looking for the next big bet, Howard thinks he finally hit it big when he discovers a rare uncut rock of Ethiopian gems, with a very interested high-profile buyer. But the closer Howard gets to finally winning big, the more he is forced to realize he can't keep running from the consequences of his actions. He must balance business, family and adversaries on all sides in pursuit of the ultimate win.

The Irishman (2019)

Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran is a man with a lot on his mind. The former labor union high official and hitman, learned to kill serving in Italy during the Second World War. He now looks back on his life and the hits that defined his mob career, maintaining connections with the Bufalino crime family. In particular, the part he claims to have played in the disappearance of his life-long friend, Jimmy Hoffa, the former president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, who mysteriously vanished in late July 1975 at the age of 62.

Marriage Story (2019)

What starts to look as a couple describing all the reasons they love each other, Marriage Story quickly dispels the illusion: This is a story of divorce, of a couple coming to the ultimate realization that the futures they want are simply incompatible and the messy process of sorting out where they go from there. The couple in question is playwright Charlie Barber and his actress wife Nicole. Nicole wants to move back to Los Angeles where a new job awaits, while Charlie would rather state in New York. It’s the latest in a series of tensions, the one that finally breaks them, and the two lawyer up, marshalling their grievances as they divvy up what remains of their life together.

Roma (2018)

Roma follows the story of Cleo, one of two domestic workers who work for a wealthy doctor, Antonio, and his wife Sofía. Cleo takes care of their four children in 1970s Mexico City. Complications soon arise when Antonio suddenly runs away with his mistress and Cleo finds out that she's pregnant. When Sofía decides to take the kids on vacation, she invites Cleo for a much-needed getaway to clear her mind and bond with the family.

Okja (2017)

From Korean director Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), this Netflix original follows Mija, a young South Korean girl who, for ten years, has served as caretaker and companion to Okja, a massive, pig-like animal. When the Mirando Corporation kidnaps Okja and transports her to New York, CEO Lucy Mirando begins making big plans for Mija’s friend — ones that will not end well for Okja. Mija sets off on an adventure across the planet to save her best friend, crossing paths with capitalists, protesters, and consumers, each with their own agendas for Okja. Okja paints a grim, provocative portrait of capitalism and consumerism at its absolute worst. It’s at once a scathing criticism of the cruelty of the meat industry and the short-sighted hypocrisy of even the most well-intentioned people.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a quintessential American teen romance film. It’s the story about Lara Jean Covey who writes letters to all of her past loves, the letters are meant for her eyes only. Until one day when all the love letters are accidentally get mailed to her crushes. Her life is soon thrown into chaos when her foregoing loves confront her one by one.

Private Life (2018)

Richard and Rachel, a couple coping with infertility struggles, try to maintain their marriage as they navigate through the world of adoption and assisted reproduction. When their doctor suggests third party reproduction, they bristle. But when Sadie, a 25-year-old college drop out, re-enters their life, they reconsider and form their own unconventional family united by feelings of inadequacy and hope for the future.

Bird Box (2018)

El Camino (2019)

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is a 2019 American neo-Western crime thriller film that serves as a sequel and epilogue to the television series Breaking Bad, which followed chemistry teacher Walter White partnering with a former student Jesse Pinkman to become kingpins in the production of crystal meth. El Camino follows Jesse, picking up where the show left him: speeding away from the compound where he’d been held prisoner. Now Jesse is on the run from the law, trying to stay one step ahead with nothing but his wits and a gun. We follow Jesse’s journey as he stumbles from one setback to the next.

Lady Bird (2017)

Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson is a high school senior from the "wrong side of the tracks". She longs for adventure, sophistication, and opportunity, but finds none of that in her Sacramento Catholic high school. She rebels against it everyday to obtain whatever “freedom” she obtains out of it. This movie follows the title character's senior year in high school, including her first romance, her participation in the school play, and most importantly, her applying for college.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind (2019)

William Kamkuamb was born in the country of Malawi, in Africa. When he was fourteen years old, a terrible drought hit the village where he lived. People had nothing to eat and drink. He was thrown out of his school because his family can no longer afford the fees.  Being an excellent student and very fond of physics, the guy decides to save his native village from starvation. He sneaks into the library and finds scientific books on physics. He studied the books and the guy got an idea to build a wind generator.

Always Be My Maybe (2019)

Childhood friends Sasha and Marcus have a falling out and don't speak for 15 years. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old pal - a happily complacent musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks - and maybe some new ones - are there.

Phantom Thread (2017)

A Quiet Place (2018)

In a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing. The two parents do what it takes to keep their children safe in a world full of creatures hunting every sound they can hear. Not a sound can be heard from the family hiding in silence, but all it takes is one noise and everything can go wrong.

The Florida Project (2017)

The title of The Florida Project refers to the original name for Walt Disney World. The park is a faraway dream for 6-year-old Moonee  and her mother Halley (Bria Vinaite), even though they live so close to it. The two of them live in a motel run by Bobby, and Moonee spends most of her time on her own or with the other children in the complex. Though Halley does her best to make ends meet, their circumstances grow more and more difficult, making moments of joy all the more magical.
