American Vandal is a mockumentary (a parody of true crime documentaries) web series. American Vandal takes a look at the aftermath of various high school pranks. Aspiring student documentarian Peter Maldonado takes it upon himself, with help from friend Sam Ecklund, to investigate the cases and find out exactly who is responsible for the crimes. The first season follows the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Peter and Sam uncover whether Dylan, the class clown, was the one truly behind the crime. In the second season they investigate a new crime at a Catholic private high school after their cafeteria's lemonade is contaminated with laxatives by someone calling themselves "The Turd Burglar."

Making a Murderer is an American true crime docuseries. Exonerated after spending nearly two decades in prison for a crime he did not commit, Steven Avery filed suit against Manitowoc County, Wis., and several individuals involved with his arrest. Shortly after, however, Avery found himself behind bars again, this time accused of the murder of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach. She was last seen on Avery's property, where she was to photograph a vehicle. Avery and his nephew were tried and convicted of the crime. But that's not the end of the story. After Netflix took on to produce this docuseries, it generated plenty of publicity and prompted petitions to have Avery's case reviewed. The debate about his guilt or innocence rages still today.
